Southern Style Dirty Rice is my take on a New Orleans traditional dirty rice which is often made with chicken gizzards and livers, which gives it the brown color and that gives this recipe its name. However I do not eat either of those two meats. I have tried them but, they are not for me. You can have Ana's Spontaneous Dirty Rice using 21 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Dirty Rice is a delectable combination of ground pork, ground beef, minced chicken livers, rice, onions, celery, green pepper, garlic and Cajun seasoning. This Dirty Rice is easy, scrumptious, and dependable. Classic Louisiana Cajun dirty rice, a rice pilaf made with the holy trinity of onions, celery, and peppers, and ground pork and chicken livers. Case in point, this "dirty" rice.
Ana's Spontaneous Dirty Rice instructions
- Preheat a medium deep skillet (@medium high heat)with the oil and ground turkey, brown the turkey, then add all the herbs and spices, and chopped onion/garlic/red pepper. Saute everything for 5 min till onion transparent and browned..
- Add the 4 cups boiling water (I have an electric kettle), add packet/cube of chicken broth, add peas, corn and rice. Mix all very well, cover and let sit at medium heat for 15 min, stirr occasionally so rice wont stick at bottom..
- Stir rice very well and let sit off heat with lid on for another 5 min. Scoop and serve. Adjust salt and pepper to taste!.
It's a Cajun classic, and so good that the first time you eat it you'll wonder where it's been all your life. Make the rice, in a medium saucepan combine the rice and chicken stock. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer until all the stock is absorbed into the Cook until the stock has reduced a little. Add the cooked rice and parsley and stir thoroughly. Taste and season with salt and pepper, if necessary.
